The National Sports Commission (NSC) has joined forces with Sport Nigeria LTD/GTE as a partner and co-host of the 2024 Sports Africa Investment Summit (SAIS), set to take place on November 19-20 at the Lagos Continental Hotel.
The event aims to reshape Africa’s sports industry into a driver of economic growth and sustainable development through innovative partnerships and investments.
Mallam Shehu Dikko, the newly appointed Chairman of the NSC, will deliver the keynote address to set the agenda for the summit, underscoring the importance of transforming sports into a dynamic economic sector.
“This partnership represents a commitment to reposition sports beyond participation and toward sustainable economic growth for Nigeria and Africa,” Dikko stated.
In addition to his keynote, Dikko will contribute to discussions on critical infrastructure in sessions titled “Facilities, Stadiums, and Arenas – The Sports Infrastructure Strategy for Industry Development” and “Accelerating Industrialization through Sports Development and Investments.” The sessions will explore the potential of sports infrastructure as a means of social and community impact, in line with NSC’s broader vision.
SAIS 2024, themed “Unleashing Africa’s Potential: Investing in Sports Infrastructure for a Sustainable Future,” is expected to attract policymakers, investors, and sports industry leaders. “The summit is a platform to drive investment in Africa’s sports value chain, fostering economic and social benefits,” stated Sport Nigeria representatives.
Founded in 2021, Sport Nigeria LTD/GTE is a private-sector-led initiative that complements public sector efforts to develop a sustainable sports industry, contributing to the national economy and broader community goals.
