The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have announced a strategic partnership to integrate Nigeria’s cultural and creative industries (CCI) with the country’s rapidly growing digital and innovation ecosystems.
During a meeting at NITDA headquarters in Abuja, NCAC Director-General Obi Asika and NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, along with their respective teams, outlined plans to foster growth, innovation, and digital transformation across Nigeria’s cultural and creative sectors.
Key initiatives under the partnership include the expansion of NCAC’s ICE (Innovate, Create, Empower) capacity-building program, with a goal of training two million Nigerians by 2027 through the establishment of digital labs and facilities provided by NITDA.
The agencies also plan to launch BuyNigeria.ng, an e-commerce platform designed to enhance visibility and accessibility for Nigerian traders and artisans in cities such as Kano, Lagos, Aba, and Abuja.
Additionally, NCAC will collaborate with private sector partners to develop digital platforms for cultural inventory, fan engagement, and e-commerce, with NITDA supporting these efforts through cloud services and digital infrastructure.
A joint committee has been formed to oversee the implementation of shared projects, including the integration of NITDA’s digital literacy programs into NCAC’s Nigeria’s Got Talent platform and participation in NITDA’s upcoming GITEX Nigeria 2025 event.
The partnership aims to position Nigeria’s creative and cultural industries as key contributors to the digital economy, leveraging technology to boost productivity and innovation.
