The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a public notice warning students, parents, and guardians about a fraudulent website falsely claiming to be the official student loan application portal.
The agency revealed that a deceptive message is currently circulating online, alleging that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the reopening of the student loan portal. The message includes a link to a fake website: https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/.
In a statement signed by Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications, NELFUND categorically denounced the message and the website as fake, warning the public against interacting with the fraudulent platform.
> “The ONLY official portal for the NELFUND Student Loan Application remains: https://nelf.gov.ng,” the statement clarified.
The organisation further urged members of the public to exercise caution, refrain from clicking on unverified links, and avoid submitting any personal or financial information on suspicious websites.
“NELFUND remains committed to transparency, safety, and fairness in the loan application process and will always make announcements through its verified platforms,” the statement read.
The agency also encouraged individuals to report any suspicious links, messages, or websites through their official email: info@nelf.gov.ng or via their verified social media channels:
