The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has expressed appreciation to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for issuing a public clarification correcting earlier claims about the Fund’s financial records and disbursement operations.
In a statement released on Thursday, NELFUND commended the ICPC for its professionalism and transparency in acknowledging errors in its previous communication.
The anti-corruption agency confirmed that no case of fraud or mismanagement had been established against the education loan body.
“This public clarification reinforces what we have consistently stated,” the Fund said. “Our operations are fully digital, data-driven, and conducted with utmost transparency. No kobo is missing, and all funds are properly accounted for in line with our stringent approval, verification, and disbursement procedures.”
NELFUND also emphasized its full compliance with regulatory reporting and oversight protocols, noting that its systems are built to uphold accountability and prevent any form of financial misconduct.
As a government-funded institution, NELFUND welcomed the scrutiny of anti-corruption bodies, auditors, the media, and the public, but urged all stakeholders to prioritize accuracy and responsibility when reporting on national matters.
“We remain unwavering in our commitment to providing fair, accessible, and sustainable education financing for millions of Nigerian students,” said Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications. “Institutional integrity and public trust remain the foundation of our operations.”
