The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has alerted the public to a fraudulent scheme involving false promises of inter-university transfers in exchange for money. According to the university management, unscrupulous individuals are demanding huge sums of money from unsuspecting students and parents, claiming they can facilitate transfers into various departments within the institution.
FUTA clarified that it is not processing any inter-university transfers at the moment and has never requested payments for such services, especially into private or unauthorized bank accounts. The university stressed that the information circulating on social media about such transfers is entirely false and designed to defraud innocent people.
“The University has not asked for payments of money for any transfers. Any such demand is bogus and should be ignored,” FUTA management stated, warning the public against falling victim to the scam. The institution emphasized that its processes for admissions and transfers remain transparent and follow due process.
The management also urged students, parents, and the general public to always verify information directly from the university’s authorized communication channels. Official announcements regarding admission and transfers, they noted, are only released through FUTA’s official website and other recognized platforms.
Reassuring the public of its commitment to integrity, FUTA called on stakeholders to remain vigilant and avoid dealing with impostors. “All matters relating to transfer and admission are transparently handled, and information should be sourced from the authorized platforms of the University ONLY,” the statement concluded.
