The Bauchi State Teachers’ Service Commission has announced the immediate removal and demotion of the Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Kirfi, Musa Ahmed Ningi, over allegations of gross misconduct involving the illegal sale of school property.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the commission’s information officer, Dahiru Adamu, the Senior Master of the school, Malam Adamu Shehu, has also been dismissed for collaborating in the unauthorized sales.
The statement, signed by the overseeing Permanent Secretary, Garba Muhammad Bashe, revealed that a four-man investigative committee found both officials guilty of selling 32 scrapped student beds, nine jumbo aluminum pots, and an unspecified quantity of roofing zinc.
Following the findings, both officers have been demoted by one grade level and reassigned to classroom duties in different schools. They are also mandated to jointly refund ₦597,000—the estimated value of the sold items.
Additionally, the former principal, Ningi, is required to repay ₦72,000 to cover outstanding allowances owed to the school’s casual workers.
The commission emphasized its commitment to recovering all vandalized school items and stated it would continue working closely with security agencies to ensure accountability and transparency in the education system.
