The Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) has announced the 2026 edition of its annual scholarship programme for female undergraduate students studying in Nigerian universities.
The initiative is aimed at supporting indigent Nigerian female students by providing financial assistance to help them continue their academic pursuits.
Under the scheme, selected beneficiaries will receive $300, while some runners-up will receive $150 as part of the association’s commitment to promoting access to education for women.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the 2026 scholarship programme, applicants must:
Be a Nigerian citizen
Be a female undergraduate student in a Nigerian university
Demonstrate proficiency in English language
Required Documents
Applicants are expected to submit the following documents during the application process:
Proof of state of origin (letter from the university or local government office)
Two recommendation letters from any of the following:
Pastor or Imam
Village head
Local government chairperson
University lecturer or Head of Department
One recommendation letter from the faculty dean or departmental head
Photocopy of current university student identification
A recent passport photograph
A half-page statement explaining why the scholarship is needed
Applicants are also required to submit a two-page essay analysing how technology can be used to address gender-based violence in Nigeria, including improving reporting systems, access to support services, and creating safe spaces for survivors.
Application Process
Interested candidates are required to download the scholarship application form, attach all required documents, and submit their application via email to education@nwag.org.
Deadline
Applications for the 2026 scholarship programme will close on May 31, 2026.
The NWAG scholarship is part of ongoing efforts by the diaspora-based association to empower Nigerian women through education and leadership development.
