Nigerian makeup artist, Theresa Emegwara, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest individual makeup application.
Emegwara, popularly known as TesGlam, achieved the feat on Tuesday, August 19, at 7:15 a.m., after clocking 103 hours, 25 minutes, 34 seconds, surpassing the previous record held by Ghana’s Akosua Mantey Roselyn, who set it on April 3, 2024.
According to a statement by her media aide, Robert Ekat, the 28-year-old began the attempt on August 14 under the banner “Glam 4-144”, officially approved by Guinness World Records. She is, however, continuing her quest, with a target of 144 hours — approximately six days — of non-stop makeup application.
Expressing gratitude, Emegwara said:
“I am filled with immense gratitude and energy from the support of everyone cheering me on. This has really tested me; I have cried and nearly given up. We are not yet done — the aim is 144 hours.”
Her achievement adds to the growing list of record-breaking feats by Nigerians, including Chef Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon and Tunde Onakoya’s chess marathon.
