Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, has expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for bestowing on him the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).
In an official message issued on Thursday, Dr Alausa described the honour as both a personal milestone and a call to greater responsibility in national service. The Minister pledged to redouble efforts in delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda for Education, aimed at ensuring quality, inclusive, and safe learning for all Nigerians.
“This prestigious recognition is not only a personal milestone but also a humbling reminder of the immense responsibility we bear in service to our great nation,” Dr Alausa stated.
He further dedicated the honour to Nigerian educators, civil servants, and young people across the country, whom he described as “the real nation-builders working tirelessly each day through learning and innovation.”
“This honour is a reflection of our collective efforts. I remain committed to working with stakeholders at all levels to uplift and transform our education sector,” the Minister added.
Dr Alausa’s message reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to reforming the education system, improving access, and supporting both learners and educators to thrive in a safe and equitable environment.

The Commander of the Order of the Niger is one of Nigeria’s highest national honours, awarded to individuals who have rendered exceptional service to the nation.
