In Gombe State, the coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Chinwe Nwachuku, has admonished corps members to remain devoted, patriotic, and keep upholding positive values in national unity and service as they begin their one-year primary assignments across the state.
This was disclosed during a speech on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area, Nwachuku announced that the three-week exercise is closed, noting that the service year was a privilege for corps members to make meaningful impacts to their host communities.
The coordinator said, “You must be patriots. Demonstrate love and loyalty to our dear country, wherever you find yourselves.
The NYSC scheme was founded on the principles of unity, discipline, and selfless service, values that every corps member must uphold.”
He also urged the corps members to make good use of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme by participating actively in post-camp training to become self- dependent.
“Your service year is not just a mandatory national duty; it is an opportunity to touch lives and make a lasting impact,” she said.
Nwachuku lauded camp officials, agencies, and security personnel for their roles in ensuring a successful and glitch -free orientation exercise.
The event included a valedictory parade and platoon presentations, reflecting on the corps members’ discipline, creativity, perseverance, and teamwork in the camp.
The NYSC is a compulsory after-graduation programme created by the Nigerian government during General Yakubu Gowon’s military rule to help rebuild and unite the country after the Nigerian Civil War.
