Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, is set to host its 401st inaugural lecture on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the university’s iconic Oduduwa Hall.
The lecture, to be delivered by Professor Kunle Seinde Benson of the Department of Public Administration, promises to ignite critical discourse on governance in Nigeria. Titled “The Rulers, the Ruled, Corruption, Leadership and Consequences for Nation’s Development,” the lecture will examine the deep-rooted challenges of leadership and corruption, and their far-reaching effects on national development.
The event will be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, and will commence at 5:00 p.m.
A statement from the university described the lecture as “an evening of thought-provoking reflections and bold insights into governance, ethics, and development,” urging members of the academic community, public sector stakeholders, and the general public to attend.
Professor Benson, a respected scholar and seasoned administrator, is expected to bring to the fore decades of research and policy experience in interrogating the dynamics of power, accountability, and public service in Nigeria.
Attendance is open to all, and guests are encouraged to arrive early for what promises to be an enlightening academic engagement.
