The Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Ifede Olalekan Joshua, has affirmed that the partnership between Ogun SUBEB and Teach for Nigeria (TFN) since its inception in 2017 has brought profound transformation to the state’s basic education sector. He described the collaboration as a beacon of hope, noting that it has yielded positive and far-reaching impacts on public primary education in Ogun State.
Evangelist Ifede, who was represented by the Director of Academic and School Services, Mrs. Anifowoshe Kehinde, made this known at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Teach for Nigeria Pre-Service Training Institute. The event which marked the graduation of the 9th cohort of fellows and the 5th cohort of school leaders, held at the Federal University of Agriculture, (FUNAAB), Abeokuta
He highlighted that the Be-the-Change projects initiated by TFN fellows have brought meaningful improvements to schools and communities across the state. According to him, the projects have inspired a new generation of leaders and change-makers while also strengthening innovation, leadership and creativity within the education system.
The SUBEB boss also seized the opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his unwavering commitment to education. He explained that the governor facilitated the placement of 200 fellows in public primary schools across the state and approved a 50% monthly salary support package for them. This, he said demonstrates visionary leadership and a deep understanding of the transformative power of education.
SUBEB Boss applauded Teach for Nigeria for its impactful programmes and projects across the State Basic Education. He described the initiative as a strong driver of educational progress and urged the newly inducted fellows to approach their host schools and communities with dedication and a positive mindset that would translate into meaningful contributions.
In his Goodwill message, the Vice Chancellor FUNNAB, Professor Olusola Babatunde emphasized that the responsibility placed on the fellows goes beyond classroom teaching, noting that their influence could extend to shaping communities, mentoring learners and building sustainable development values in the society. He charged them to uphold professionalism and resilience in their service years.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the Chief Executive Officer of Teach for Nigeria, Mrs. Molade Adeniyi, expressed gratitude to the sponsors and partners of TFN for their consistent support in ensuring the success of the training programme. She also thanked the management of FUNAAB for providing accommodation and facilities for the smooth conduct of the event. Mrs. Adeniyi encouraged the inductees to implement all they had learned during the training in their various schools and communities, stressing that their impact could lay the foundation for long-lasting change in education.
