The Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY), has issued a firm directive warning all political aspirants and students against defacing school or government properties under the guise of electioneering for student union leadership.
In a memo titled “Warning Against Defacing Properties and Unauthorized Political Activities”, issued on June 24, 2025, by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola, the institution expressed concern over the increasing trend of campaign-related vandalism, which includes graffiti, poster placements, and markings on public roads and buildings.
The statement emphasized that the long-standing ban on all forms of student union politicking remains effective and has not been lifted. The Management strongly condemned the acts of defacement and cautioned students against violating institutional regulations.
“The Management strongly condemns this act of vandalism and reminds all students that the ban on students union politicking on campus remains in force.
Therefore, any form of political campaign including posters, graffiti, or any form of defacement is strictly prohibited,” the memo read.
