The Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY), has unveiled plans to digitize its operations, beginning with the launch of 24-hour internet connectivity across the campus.
The announcement was made on Thursday, April 24, 2025, by the institution’s Rector, Mr. Kehinde Alabi, during the matriculation ceremony for newly admitted ND1, HND1, and NCE1 students held at the Education Trust Fund (ETF) Hall.
Mr. Alabi stated that the institution is poised to provide students with numerous opportunities aimed at enhancing learning and personal development.
“To whom much is given, much is expected,” he remarked, emphasizing that the institution’s transformation agenda comes with a responsibility for students to be law-abiding, disciplined, and prompt in paying their fees.
He issued a stern warning against involvement in social vices such as cultism, indecent dressing, exam malpractice, hooliganism, and other forms of misconduct, describing them as cankerworms the institution has zero tolerance for.
“There are behaviours not tolerated in this community—avoid them like a plague,” he cautioned.
The Rector encouraged students to obtain a copy of the Students’ Guardian, a comprehensive guide covering admission procedures, registration processes, examination rules, and other academic information.
He also advised the new students to present themselves with dignity, stating that their appearance and conduct should reflect the institution’s core values as captured in its motto: Excellence in Character and Technology.
While advising students to fight for their rights in a lawful and non-violent manner, Mr. Alabi noted that grievances should be formally channeled through the Student Affairs Office.
He urged students to prepare adequately for examinations and ensure timely payment of fees and course registration. He added that the school would not hesitate to enforce penalties for non-compliance.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Alabi revealed that academic facilities including classrooms, laboratories, and the library would undergo restructuring, renovation, and upgrades to foster academic excellence.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Deputy Rector, Dr. Oyeleke Gboyega Oluwaseun; Bursar, Mr. Sunday Ademola Afolabi; Registrar, Mr. Abiodun Oloyede; Director of Media, Publicity and Protocol, Mr. Bayo Fadeji; as well as deans, heads of departments, and faculty coordinators.
