Somalia’s Federal Cabinet has approved three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) focused on strengthening cooperation in education and research. The approvals were made during the Cabinet’s weekly meeting held on Wednesday in Mogadishu.
The agreements, submitted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education, cover partnerships with three countries:
An MoU between Somalia and Uganda on education.
An MoU between Somalia and Qatar on higher education.
An MoU between Somalia and Algeria on higher education and research.
The session, chaired by Second Deputy Prime Minister Jibril Abdirashid Hassan, also received reports from the Ministries of Interior Security and Defence regarding the overall security situation in the country and ongoing operations against the militant group Al-Shabaab.
The government said the new agreements aim to strengthen academic collaboration, promote research, and improve access to quality education across Somalia’s institutions.
