The Chama Cha Ukombozi wa Umma (CHAUMMA) parliamentary candidate for Kibaha Town Constituency in Tanzania’s Coast Region, Ms Khadija Rungwe, has pledged to make quality healthcare and education top priorities if elected in the forthcoming General Election this October.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Misugusugu Ward, Ms Rungwe described herself as a determined and capable leader committed to implementing her party’s manifesto, which emphasises the improvement of public health and education services.
> “I am well aware of the challenges faced by pregnant women in this area. I will ensure that all expectant mothers in the constituency have access to quality and affordable medical services, free of charge,” she said.
On education, Ms Rungwe assured residents that CHAUMMA would introduce targeted strategies to ensure that every child in Kibaha can complete their education without hindrance.
> “Too many students in this area drop out of school each year. Our manifesto clearly states that education is the right of every child, and we are committed to transforming young lives through our policies,” she added.
Ms Rungwe further highlighted CHAUMMA’s plans to enhance the welfare of teachers across all levels of education — from pre-primary to secondary — by providing better incentives and improving working conditions.
She also promised that the party would expand the number of schools nationwide and upgrade learning infrastructure, including the construction of additional classrooms and teachers’ housing, to create a more conducive learning environment.
