The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has introduced a new innovation to improve students’ learning experience with the commissioning of 10 smart reading booths, known as *Explore Seat Pods*, at the institution’s Main Library.
The launch ceremony was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, alongside members of the university management team.
Prof. Ogunsola said the facility reflects UNILAG’s commitment to creating a vibrant hub for exploration and continuous learning. She commended the University Librarian, Professor Olatokunbo Okiki, and his team for their role in transforming the library into a 21st-century knowledge center.
“With these reforms and continuous upgrades, our library will not only attract more users but also promote intellectual collaboration and uphold the culture of academic excellence,” she stated.
Professor Okiki described the booths as an extension of the Library Maker-Space, which was launched in November 2023. According to him, the pods provide students with focused and personalized spaces for reading, deep thinking, and discovery.
“The Explore Seat Pods will foster creativity and collaboration while offering modern spaces where users can study smarter, think deeper, and connect better,” he explained.
The pods, designed and delivered by The Eureka Consults within two months, combine comfort and innovation, further positioning UNILAG libraries as centers for people, possibilities, and progress.
