The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will run from January 26 to February 28, 2026, across all approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.
The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this on Saturday in Lagos during a meeting with Commissioners for Education ahead of the 2025 UTME and Direct Entry (DE) exercises.
According to Oloyede, the sale of UTME application documents (ePINs) will commence earlier, running from January 19 to February 26, while actual registration will take place within the January 26 to February 28 window.
He also revealed that the mock examination selection will close on February 16, while the sale of Direct Entry application documents and ePINs will begin on March 2 and end on April 25.
Oloyede noted that, unlike previous years, the results of underage candidates will only be released after the completion of a comprehensive evaluation process, aimed at ensuring proper assessment of candidates seeking age waivers.
On monitoring, the registrar stated that all CBT centres involved in UTME registration would be monitored live from JAMB headquarters. Any centre whose activities cannot be monitored, he warned, would not be paid and may have its registrations invalidated.
He added that 924 CBT centres have been provisionally approved, stressing that they will still undergo a final assessment before full accreditation.
Oloyede further clarified that candidates are not required to pay any service charges to CBT centres, as only the registration fees approved by JAMB are applicable.
Addressing concerns about examination postings, he explained that candidates would only be posted to towns selected during registration, advising early registration to increase the chances of securing preferred locations.
He also warned candidates to declare any previous registration or admission history, noting that running more than one undergraduate programme concurrently is a criminal offence and will attract sanctions.
On age eligibility, the registrar stated that candidates must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, to be eligible for UTME admission. However, underage candidates may be considered for a waiver after a rigorous evaluation process and must score not less than 80 per cent in UTME or A’Level, Post-UTME, SSCE, and exceptional candidate assessments.
