Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has announced that corps members will begin receiving an increased monthly allowance of N77,000 starting February 2025.
Speaking in Katsina while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members, Ahmed confirmed that the increment has been incorporated into the 2025 Federal Government budget and will take effect once the budget is approved.
“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” he stated.
The NYSC DG urged corps members to reciprocate the government’s gesture by being diligent and committed during their service year.
He also reassured them of their safety and welfare, emphasizing that corps members would not be posted to areas with security threats.
“We will not send our corps members to places experiencing security challenges. Wherever we post them, they should be assured that the location is safe and secured for them to serve,” Ahmed assured.
The allowance increase marks a significant boost in corps members’ remuneration, aligning with the Federal Government’s commitment to youth empowerment and welfare.
