Lafia, Nasarawa State — The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, on Tuesday paid an official visit to Nasarawa State, where he presented the Fund’s One-Year Progress Report to the state government.
Mr. Sawyerr formally presented the report to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, in the presence of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, alongside senior government officials and key stakeholders.
The engagement provided an opportunity to review NELFUND’s achievements over the past year, outline ongoing interventions, and discuss the impact of the student loan scheme on beneficiaries and tertiary institutions within Nasarawa State. Discussions also focused on strengthening collaboration between the Fund and the state government to expand access to education.
As part of the visit, the NELFUND Managing Director paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Sidi Bage Muhammad I, where he also presented the One-Year Progress Report and reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to inclusive educational financing. Mr. Sawyerr further met with the Director-General of the Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Agency, Hajiya Habiba Balarabe Suleiman, to reinforce partnerships aimed at advancing human capital development in the state.
The Managing Director was accompanied on the visit by Mr. Nasir Ayitogo and Mr. Saifullah Bello, Technical Assistants to the MD/CE; Mrs. Omojola Seun-Ojerinde, Deputy Manager, Strategic Communications; and Mr. Sadiq Umar Tanko from the MD’s Office.
The visit, according to NELFUND, underscores the Fund’s continued commitment to transparency, stakeholder engagement, and strategic partnerships with state governments and traditional institutions in delivering sustainable education financing across Nigeria.
