About the Program
The African Oxford Initiative (AfOx), in collaboration with key Oxford University departments and institutes, invites applications for the 2025 AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme. This prestigious opportunity is tailored for outstanding African researchers to collaborate with Oxford-based scholars and develop impactful research projects.
The fellowship supports academic partnerships and aims to foster long-term connections between African institutions and the University of Oxford.
Program Structure
Duration: 12 months
10 months virtual engagement
2 months in-person residency at Oxford (April–June, Trinity Term)
Affiliation: Each Fellow is assigned to a department and college within Oxford University.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be a national or permanent resident of an African country.
Hold an academic or research position at an African university or research institution.
Fellowship Benefits

Fully funded 2-month residency, including:
Return economy flight
Visa and airport transfers
En-suite accommodation
University and college building access
Up to £250 weekly allowance for incidental expenses
