About the Scholarship Award
The Josephine Kponee Fellowship Award was established to support higher education for Ogoni women in Nigeria. Inspired by Josephine Kponee, an advocate for women’s education, the fellowship empowers young Ogoni women by funding academic, research, and technological projects.
Each year, the foundation awards one exceptional Ogoni student with full tuition support for the duration of their undergraduate program, alongside a yearly stipend for academic materials and living expenses.

👉 Scholars must maintain a First Class or at least Second Class Upper (≥ 4.0 GPA) each year to retain the fellowship.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
Be Ogoni indigenes.
Be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a government-approved Nigerian tertiary institution.
Be at any level of undergraduate study.
Be enrolled in any course or department.

📄 Essay 2 (max. 1000 words): Experiences as an Ogoni indigene and how the Ogoni struggle has shaped you.

Additional Information
Top applicants will be invited for an interview with the foundation’s founders.
Finalists must attend an in-person interview in Port Harcourt with the Chief Operating Officer before receiving funding.
