In a remarkable triumph for Nigeria and African education, an all-girls team from STEM Child Care Academy has won first place in Track 1 at the Codeavour 6.0 International Innovation Fest, held in Doha, Qatar.
The young innovators, aged between 12 and 16, stood out among global participants with their cutting-edge solutions focused on clean energy, sustainable cities, and environmental protection—securing the top spot in one of the world’s biggest AI, robotics, and coding competitions for children and teenagers.

The finals, which took place at the Qatar National Convention Centre, wrapped up today with Nigeria proudly hoisting its flag in triumph.
The girls, representing the country’s growing potential in STEM education and female empowerment, had earlier received training in robotics, AI, and coding using PictoBlox—an AI-based platform. Their win marks a significant milestone not just for Nigeria, but for Africa’s growing tech talent among young learners.
“We are thrilled and proud,” one of the team mentors told EduTimes Africa on the sidelines of the award ceremony. “These girls have shown the world that when given the right tools and training, African children—especially girls—can lead in solving global problems.”
Codeavour International, now in its sixth edition, is the world’s largest AI and coding competition for students aged 7 to 18. It focuses on real-world problem-solving through tech and entrepreneurship.
This year’s edition attracted young minds from across continents, each bringing projects that tackle global challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The victory adds to Nigeria’s growing reputation in global education and innovation spaces and sets a strong precedent for youth inclusion in solving the planet’s most pressing issues.
The team is expected back in the country next week, where a heroes’ welcome awaits.
