President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the Nigerian Educational Loan Fund (NELFUND) for its strides in making tertiary education accessible to Nigerians.
In a statement read at the University of Uyo’s convocation ceremony, Tinubu noted that the fund is playing a critical role in providing financial assistance to students.

While acknowledging that NELFUND encountered “teething problems” during its early stages, the president highlighted that the agency has processed over 70 billion naira in loans, which will be disbursed to students under the scheme.
Tinubu emphasized that this initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder Nigerians from pursuing higher education.
The president’s remarks come amid increasing efforts to support Nigerian students and expand opportunities for tertiary education nationwide.
