The Honourable Minister of Education was honoured to receive key members of the Mubi Sabondale Development Association, including the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Alhaji Sali Isah Bello, CFR; former Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Mena; Professor Ladi Hamalai; and the Association’s Secretary General, Dr. Umar, Director of General Services at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
In 2024, the Federal Government established the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi, in Adamawa State to address the nation’s growing demand for agricultural expertise.
Nigeria’s rich diversity of climates, temperatures, and biodiversity makes it exceptionally well-suited for crop production. With the increasing global demand for wheat and other crops, it is critical to expand the country’s agricultural capacity and harness it to improve national GDP.
During the meeting, the Honourable Minister was briefed on how the community and the Sabondale Development Association welcomed the University with open arms. Their contributions—including the donation of homes, furniture, event centres, and more—reflect an inspiring commitment to nation-building. The Mayo Bani community exemplifies the spirit of unity and the principle of “One Nigeria.”
In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s priorities for education and agriculture, the Ministry of Education will support the establishment of a Research Institute for Wheat Production and a Wheat and Livestock Farm at the University. Mubi’s longstanding association with wheat and cattle production makes it an ideal location for these initiatives, which aim to cultivate the next generation of agricultural experts.
The Honourable Minister extends his appreciation to the members of the Mubi Sabondale Development Association for their visit and looks forward to continued collaboration.
