The Ghanaian government has renewed its commitment to improving infrastructure and learning facilities in schools operated by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, announced the commitment during a courtesy visit by officials of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Iddrisu said the Ministry would support the provision and upgrading of critical infrastructure, including classrooms, dormitories, laboratories and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) facilities in GAF educational institutions.
He said the initial phase of the intervention would focus on priority projects at selected GAF schools in Burma Camp, Takoradi, Tamale and Wa.
According to the Minister, strengthening infrastructure in the schools is important to creating an environment where young people can receive quality and practical education that prepares them for national development.
He also emphasised the importance of discipline alongside academic and practical training, noting that both values are essential in preparing young people to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development.
The Director of Ghana Armed Forces Education, Col. Osman Zuneidu Sham-un, welcomed the government’s support and highlighted some of the major infrastructure challenges facing GAF schools.
He identified the need for additional classrooms and dormitories, modern laboratories, STEM centres and equipment for technical and vocational workshops.
Iddrisu also directed that GAF schools be incorporated into the ongoing Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) arrangement for the provision of educational materials and furniture.
The Ghana Armed Forces, meanwhile, indicated that preparations were already underway at some selected locations to facilitate the implementation of the proposed infrastructure projects.
The intervention is expected to strengthen teaching and learning facilities across GAF schools while expanding opportunities for students to gain practical and STEM-related skills.
