One time Maltina Teacher of the Year and Global Teacher, Olasunkanmi Opeifa, has warmly joined other educators to welcome Ronke Soyombo to her new office as the first female Registrar and Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), describing her appointment as a landmark moment for the teaching profession.
Opeifa, a prominent education advocate and founder of Phenomenon-Edu Impact shared on Facebook that he paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Registrar and commended her passion, vision, and readiness to elevate the status of Nigerian teachers.
“Just a moment spent with her, and I can say with certainty—the teaching profession is about to witness a new level of excellence,” he said. “Her clarity, passion, and commitment are deeply reassuring. This is what leadership for teachers should look and feel like.”
He noted that Soyombo’s track record as an education reformer makes her well suited to lead the TRCN at this critical time, and expressed hope that her leadership would inspire renewed confidence among educators nationwide.
Opeifa also reaffirmed his dedication to teacher development through The Phenomenon, his flagship platform that champions excellence in education. “At Phenomenon-Edu Impact, we will not rest until Nigerian teachers can stand shoulder to shoulder with any professional—anywhere in the world,” he stated.
He encouraged teachers to register for the upcoming Phenomenon 3.0, describing this year’s edition as the biggest yet. “With leaders like Mrs Soyombo paving the way, our dreams for the profession are not only valid—they are possible,” he added.
Mrs Ronke Soyombo, a seasoned administrator and widely respected voice in education reform, was officially welcomed to her office amid great expectations from stakeholders in the education sector.
