For students studying community health, accreditation is more than a routine visit — it determines whether their certificates will carry weight in the real world.
That’s why the recent commendation of Ikirun College of Health Technology by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria matters.
Following a three-day accreditation exercise that began on Monday and ended on Wednesday, the board described the institution’s facilities and training environment as impressive.
The visit came after an earlier advisory engagement held in late October 2025.
Speaking during the exercise, the accreditation team leader, Dr. Mohammed Abdullahi, said the board’s core mandate is to uphold professionalism and quality in the health sector.
“Our visits ensure that institutions meet the required standards and that graduates are well-equipped to serve communities effectively,” he said.
He particularly commended the college for investing in modern equipment, demonstration tools and models that enhance practical learning.
He also praised the recruitment of qualified staff and the overall learning environment.
“We are pleased with the level of preparedness and the quality of facilities here. The management’s dedication to practical and theoretical training is evident,” Abdullahi added.
During the visit, the team reviewed academic documents, interacted with faculty and staff, inspected students’ records and assessed laboratories, classrooms and demonstration units.
They also discussed curriculum implementation, student welfare, staff development and institutional sustainability.
For students, this kind of assessment is critical.
Accreditation not only validates programmes but also strengthens employability, especially in a sector where competence directly affects lives.
In his remarks, the Chief Academic Officer of the college, Salaudeen Oyewale, said the institution remains focused on producing well-grounded professionals.
“Our mission is to produce health practitioners who are not only knowledgeable but also professionally grounded. That is why we continuously invest in infrastructure, human resources, and quality assurance systems,” he stated.
The board expressed satisfaction with the college’s readiness, while encouraging continued improvement in line with evolving standards in Nigeria’s health sector.
