The Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has declared that exorbitant rent increases in student-dominated communities are not only irresponsible but also harmful.
Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup made the declaration at Obokungbusi city hall while addressing the newly installed chiefs and an oba.
He urged newly installed chiefs to view their positions as opportunities to serve and make a positive impact rather than exploiting their people.
The paramount ruler disclosed that he is pioneering an initiative to construct private hostels, alleviating accommodation challenges and empowering students to focus on their education.
He encouraged affluent Ijesas to join him in driving positive change and creating a better future for all. Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup remains committed to creating a more inclusive and supportive community, inspiring students and demonstrating his dedication to their well-being.
He emphasized that those who prioritize the well-being of others will be rewarded, while those who seek to exploit others will face consequences.
Recall that students of the University of Ilesa recently staged a protest, requesting the Owa Obokun’s intervention to mitigate their accommodation challenges caused by increased rent.
