President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Mrs. Feyemi Adebisi Sawyerr, mother of the Managing Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NELFUND), describing her as a devoted health professional and a beacon of service and compassion.
Mrs. Sawyerr, who will be laid to rest on Friday, was widely respected for her decades-long career as a nurse and midwife both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. President Tinubu highlighted her commitment to healthcare, noting her impactful work from her early days at Massey Hospital in Lagos to her significant contributions abroad before returning to serve her nation.
“In public service, Matron Adebisi’s contributions to the Family Planning Council of Nigeria remain a testament to her dedication and vision,” the President said, adding that she was a cherished wife and mother who aged with dignity surrounded by her loving family.
President Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the Sawyerr and Amure families and prayed for eternal rest for Mrs. Sawyerr’s soul and comfort for all who mourn her loss.
