The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has dismissed speculation that recent examination malpractice notifications issued during its 2025/2026 Post-UTME screening exercise were caused by technical glitches. The exercise was held from September 1 to 4, 2025.
In a statement signed by Adejoke R. Alaga-Ibraheem, Head of the Communication Unit, the University stressed that all flagged cases arose from “clear violations of established examination guidelines,” identified through multiple monitoring systems, including secure video surveillance.
UNILAG further explained that while it will not release raw video footage to the public due to privacy and data protection laws, it may publish anonymised screenshots strictly to illustrate the nature of violations detected. The University urged candidates and parents to disregard unofficial reports circulating via email and social media, and instead rely only on official communication channels.
Reiterating its stance, the institution emphasized its “unwavering commitment to integrity, fairness, and transparency in its admissions process,” while warning against misinformation capable of undermining public confidence in the exercise.
