The University of Lagos (UNILAG) contingent has arrived in Jos, Plateau State, with great optimism and team spirit as they prepare to compete in the 27th Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA), taking place from November 6–16, 2025 at the University of Jos.
Fresh from hosting the 26th edition in 2022, UNILAG has assembled a 90-member contingent comprising athletes, coaches, and officials — all determined to make a strong impression on the national stage.
The team will compete in 10 sporting disciplines, including Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Female Football, Judo, Karate, Table Tennis, Tennis, Scrabble, and Taekwondo.
“UNILAG has always been a powerhouse in university sports. We are confident our athletes will once again do us proud,” said Prof. Alabi Soneye, Chairman of the UNILAG Sports Council.
Prof. Soneye commended the dedication of the athletes and encouraged them to uphold the university’s values of integrity, teamwork, and perseverance throughout the competition.
The contingent departed Lagos in two batches on November 5 and 6, filled with determination to return home with medals and uphold UNILAG’s rich sporting legacy.
The opening ceremony of the NUGA 2025 Games is scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the University of Jos Sports Complex.
As excitement builds, UNILAG supporters across the country are rallying behind the team with the hashtag #UNILAG #NUGA2025, wishing them victory and another impressive medal haul.
