Under the motto of “Harnessing the Power of Skills”, WorldSkills Africa (#WSAFRICA) was officially launched on February 17th, 2024 at the 37th African Union Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This initiative, led by the African Union Development Agency and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), aims to inspire African national governments, civil societies, industrial and employers’ associations, education stakeholders, and the private sector to recognize the importance of skills in the socio-economic development of African nations.
The WorldSkills Africa Desk, under the auspices of NEPAD, will focus on promoting excellence in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). By benchmarking best practices, WorldSkills Africa aims to support the development of better skills for decent jobs. This initiative seeks to bridge the skills gap by brokering partnerships between African nations and their international counterparts, ensuring that African youths have the necessary skills to succeed in the labor market.
WorldSkills Africa envisions a future where Africa becomes a prospect for skills development, attracting investments and partnerships from around the world. By inspiring quality education for all, this initiative aims to enable individual progress and contribute to the overall prosperity of African societies.
Join WorldSkills Africa in this wonderful venture to empower African nations, foster excellence in TVET, and create opportunities for Africa in the global market. Together, we can inspire a brighter future by valuing the importance of skills and promoting individual progress and societal prosperity through quality education.
