The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has announced the 2026 edition of its Internship Programme for students and recent graduates across the globe.
The programme offers participants practical work experience in a multicultural environment, while providing exposure to UNESCO’s mandate, programmes and operational processes. Interns will also strengthen their academic and technical knowledge through relevant assignments designed to support career development.

Programme Details
The UNESCO Internship Programme allows successful applicants to gain hands-on experience at UNESCO offices in various locations worldwide. Interns will work closely with professionals in their fields, build networks, and gain insights into international development and cooperation.
Although the internship does not provide financial compensation, it offers valuable professional exposure and may enhance future employment prospects.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
Be at least 20 years old.
Be currently enrolled in the third or final year of a Bachelor’s degree; or
Be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme; or
Have graduated within the last 12 months (Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD).
Possess excellent written and spoken English or French (knowledge of the second language is an advantage).
Have strong computer skills and proficiency in office-related software.
Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Applicants seeking secretarial or technical assignments must be in their final year of study or have recently graduated from a specialised institution.
Candidates who have completed a Bachelor’s degree but are not enrolled in a graduate programme are not eligible.
