A teacher at the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Benin, Mr. Jatto Agholor, has been exonerated from a sexual harassment allegation following an investigation by a committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Education.
The Ministry established the investigation panel a few weeks ago in response to allegations against the teacher.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Ministry confirmed that the investigation had been concluded, and the accused was found innocent.
The statement, signed by Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press at the Federal Ministry of Education, emphasized that a thorough review of the case led to Mr. Agholor’s acquittal.
“Following a comprehensive review of the case, it was determined that the matter in question was not one of sexual harassment but rather an issue of strict classroom management, which was initially misinterpreted.
“The preliminary findings indicated that Mr. Jatto was on prep supervision duty at the time of the incident and was addressing a rowdy classroom situation.
The final findings of the investigation will be officially announced in due course,” the statement read.
Additionally, the statement revealed that the school principal has been summoned to the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja for further clarification.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and integrity in educational institutions, the Ministry urged the public to remain patient and await the final report of the investigation.
