Uganda: Housing Finance Bank Eases Back-to-School Burden for Ugandan Families

As schools reopen across the country, Housing Finance Bank (HFB) is extending a lifeline to parents, guardians, and educational institutions through a suite of financial solutions tailored to ease the pressures of the back-to-school season.

Recognizing the financial strain that often accompanies a new school term—from tuition fees to uniforms and supplies—HFB has introduced flexible financing options that ensure timely access to funds. These solutions come with competitive interest rates and convenient repayment plans, enabling families to prioritize their children’s education without financial disruption.

To simplify school fees payments, the bank offers multiple payment channels including HFB branches, the Mobile Banking App, Corporate and Retail Internet Banking platforms, and the USSD code *225#. In addition, parents can use URA PRN codes or SchoolPay at over 1,300 agent locations across Uganda, making payments more accessible and efficient.

For schools, HFB provides specialized collection accounts that streamline tuition payments and simplify financial reconciliation. School proprietors can also access up to UGX 200 million in working capital through the Bank’s School Bridge Financing product to cover operational costs at the start of the term.

Moreover, customers can benefit from the bank’s Mastercard Debit and Prepaid Cards, allowing for secure, cashless shopping at major retail outlets. These cards enable parents to track expenditures and better manage their budgets during the busy school season.
