On January 25, 2025, as graduates filed into the convocation ground of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, one name echoed across the Institute of Administration: Adeyeye Abdulqudus Aderemi. With First Class Honours in Public Administration, Adeyeye not only graduated at the top of his class but etched his name in the institution’s records as the Best Graduating Student in the Department, Faculty, and entire Campus (Institute of Administration).
But Adeyeye’s journey wasn’t defined solely by academic excellence. His story is one of grit, grace, and an exceptional ability to balance—academics, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
Wearing Three Hats: Business, Leadership, and Academics
“While in school, I wore three caps,” Adeyeye recounts. “Entrepreneurship, leadership, and academic excellence were my core pursuits.”
Aderemi is the proud founder of QD Phones and Gadgets, a thriving gadget store based in Offa, Kwara State, and QD Leather Brand, a fast-rising fashion and accessories business. As his brands grew, so did his responsibilities on campus.
He took up leadership roles that spanned both cultural and religious spheres. From serving as PRO and General Secretary of Offa Students Union, to being Academic Officer and General Secretary of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (Faculty chapter), and eventually rising to President of the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS), ABU Zaria Chapter, Adeyeye’s name became synonymous with service, voice, and integrity.
Balancing these roles with the rigorous demands of academia wasn’t easy. It required strategic planning, prioritization, discipline, and relentless prayer.
“It took intentional living and time management. There were sleepless nights, sacrifices, and missed social events. But I had a vision—and I stayed on course,” he reflects.
A Legacy of Excellence
At convocation, Adeyeye stood not only as a graduate but as a symbol of what is possible. His First Class degree made him the only student in his faculty to graduate with such distinction in 2024. His story challenges the notion that students must choose between academics and other aspirations.
> “Being the best graduating student wasn’t just a personal goal. It was a statement. A message that your background does not define your future. Faith, vision, and commitment do,” he said.
What’s Next?
As he turns the page on his undergraduate journey, Adeyeye is setting his sights on the future. He hopes to expand his businesses, pursue policy and governance roles, and create impact-driven initiatives that support youth development, especially in Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
His story continues to inspire students across the country who find themselves torn between chasing academic excellence and exploring other life passions.
“My journey has just begun. I want to build, serve, and give back. My experiences have prepared me to contribute meaningfully to my community and beyond.”
