The Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (Osun Poly), Mr. Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi, has called on newly admitted National Diploma (ND1) Daily Part-Time (DPT) students to steer clear of social vices and embrace a life of discipline and academic excellence throughout their academic journey.
Mr. Alabi made this appeal while addressing the matriculating students during the DPT matriculation ceremony held on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the TETFund Hall of the institution.
“It is in your best interest to shun all forms of indecent dressing, cultism, thuggery, and hooliganism,” the Rector cautioned. “Rather, cultivate positive values that will uphold the good name of Osun Poly in the outside world.”
He further advised the students to obtain a copy of the students’ handbook, known as the Student Guardian, and to strictly abide by its guidelines. Alabi emphasized the importance of being law-abiding, responsible, and prompt in the payment of school fees.
“I enjoin you to remain steadfast in your thirst for knowledge and pursuit of excellence,” he added. “Do not allow any distraction to derail your goals. Uphold ethical standards in your communication, discipline, integrity, and your love for both God and humanity.”
Addressing the importance of peaceful conflict resolution, the Rector urged students with grievances to make use of the institution’s grievance redress mechanisms. He encouraged a culture of consultation, dialogue, and peaceful resolution of disputes.
On academic integrity, Alabi sternly warned against examination malpractice and fraudulent acts, noting that only diligence and honesty can carry them far in life.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the institution’s Registrar, Prince Abiodun Oloyede, administered the matriculation oath, officially inducting the students into the Osun Poly academic community.
The event marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the new students, with a strong emphasis on discipline, values, and excellence as the guiding principles for their stay on campus.
