Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) has officially confirmed the receipt of ₦158,685,000.00 as the fourth batch disbursement of student loans from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
In a letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday O. Elom, and addressed to the Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND, the university acknowledged that the funds, which were released on July 31, 2025, cover loan support for 809 students.
> “I hereby confirm that our University received payment for 809 Students amounting to a total of ₦158,685,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Eight Million, Six Hundred and Eighty Five Thousand, Naira only) as 4th batch disbursement under the Students loan programme,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
The student loan programme, spearheaded by the Federal Government and managed by NELFUND, is part of ongoing efforts to make tertiary education more accessible to Nigerian youths by easing financial barriers.
This marks the fourth tranche of loan disbursements to AE-FUNAI students since the programme’s implementation. The initiative has been widely welcomed as a timely intervention, particularly at a period when students and their families are grappling with economic pressures.
Prof. Elom reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to accountability and transparency in the administration of the funds, assuring that the loan support will be effectively utilized for the benefit of the beneficiaries.
The development underscores the government’s determination to sustain the student loan scheme and strengthen access to education across federal universities in Nigeria.
