No fewer than 140 teachers from public and private schools across Nigeria have been trained to safely integrate cybersecurity and technology into classroom teaching.
The training, tagged Cybersmart Educators Initiative (CEI 1.0), was organised by Levi Educational Technology and Design Consulting Ltd. Its grand finale took place on October 24 at Afe Babalola Hall, University of Lagos.
According to the organisers, the initiative aims to help teachers build students’ awareness of digital safety, online ethics, and responsible technology use — aligning with the global Cybersecurity Awareness Month themed “Stay Safe Online.”
Head of Operations, Mrs. Naomi Adesola-Zion, said the training became necessary to address moral and safety challenges faced by young Nigerians in the digital age.
“Technology is both a blessing and a battlefield,” she said. “Teachers must guide students to use it responsibly.”
The event also featured the launch of the Cybersmart Club Initiative — a platform to promote safe digital practices in schools.
Top dignitaries, including officials from Lagos State and NITDA, attended the programme.
Three teachers won the Cybersmart Teachers’ Award: Esther Ekanem of Valencia Junior Academy, Ibadan (₦1m); Oluwaseun Oluwasanya of Deeper Life High School, Mowe (₦500,000); and David Ipaye of Mabest Academy, Akure (₦300,000).
Amazing Talents College, Lagos, also emerged winner of the Cybersmart Inter-School Debate.
