The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to raising future-ready leaders.
He made the remark during the 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Prof. Olufemi Olaiya Balogun Ceremonial Building.
Addressing the new students, Prof. Kehinde described the matriculation as more than a formal event — a rite that confirms them as bona fide members of the university community. With that privilege, he said, comes the responsibility to obey the institution’s rules and uphold its values at all times.
The Professor of Plant Breeding noted that FUNAAB remains a training ground for leaders, both nationally and globally. He stressed the university’s zero tolerance for indiscipline while assuring that students’ rights and privileges will always be protected.
Guest lecturer, Prof. Subulola Fasoyiro, delivered a talk titled “Future Leaders of Character in Agriculture: Building Capacity Today for National and Global Impact Tomorrow.” She urged the freshmen to live with purpose, make intentional decisions, and choose careers that not only sustain them but also add value to the world.
She encouraged them to build relevance early by volunteering, developing capacity, and guarding their reputation.
Also speaking, the Ogun State Coordinator of JAMB, Mr. Hakeem AbdulHameed, congratulated the institution, the freshers, and their parents. He advised the students to prioritize their studies and avoid any form of anti-social behaviour. He also commended FUNAAB for maintaining strict compliance with recommended admission guidelines.
