The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has distanced itself from a viral video titled “Bandits Prank on Lasuites” which surfaced online on Friday, December 5, 2025. The video, created by Datreez Entertainment TV, shows individuals dressed in a way that caused fear and panic as they entered the university campus with equipment, prompting distress among students.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi A., LASU clarified that it did not approve, authorise, or endorse the recording of the video.
According to the institution, the content creators carried out unauthorised filming on campus, an action the university described as unacceptable.
LASU condemned the video, saying it portrayed elements associated with banditry, terrorism, and violent extremism, and stressed that the university would not tolerate any prank capable of inciting fear or disrupting the peace on campus—especially at a time when the country is grappling with security challenges.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and peaceful learning environment and urged students and staff to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the LASU Security Unit.
The statement was issued on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
