The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Banjul is offering five (5) Gambian students the opportunity to study in China under the Chinese Government Scholarship Program for the academic year 2026–2027.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
1. Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health both mentally and physically.
2. Be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs;
3. Be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs;
4. Be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;
5. be a high school graduate (at least) under the age of 45 when applying for general scholar programs;
6. Be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for senior scholar programs.
7. Take the “China Scholastic Competency Assessment (short as CSCA)” and upload a valid score report when applying for bachelor programs.
8. Have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 3 when applying for Chinese-taught general scholar programs (studying Chinese language are exempted);
9. Have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 3 when applying for Chinese-taught senior scholar programs;
10. Have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 4 when applying for Chinese-taught master’s or doctoral programs;
11. Meet the admission requirements of the applied universities in terms of academic ability, language proficiency and other relevant criterial.
📝 Required Admission Documents
1. Completed Application Form
2. Passport copy (valid for at least 12 months).
3. Notarized highest diploma or proof of student status.
4. Academic transcripts (with notarized translations if not in English/Chinese).
5. Language certificates (HSK, IELTS, TOEFL as applicable), for language students
6. CSCA Score Report (mandatory for bachelor applicants).
7. Pre-admission documents from target universities.
8. Study plan or research proposal (200 words for undergraduates, 500 for non-degree, 800 for postgraduates).
9. Recommendation letters (two, for graduate/senior scholar applicants).
10. Art/design portfolio (if applying for art-related majors).
11. Guardian documents (for applicants under 18).

📚 CSCA Examination
Mandatory for Bachelor’s applicants.
Applicants who apply for bachelors students need to register the exam by this website:
https://csca.cn/registration/notice/jjwk or www.csca.cn. and take the exam from home, monitored online by a live proctor.
Exam dates: December 21, 2025 & January 25, 2026.
