The Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with QG Construction UK Limited for the development of an Institute of Green and Sustainable Science and Technology at the Acherensua Campus of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences (UEAS), Bunso.
The proposed institute is expected to serve as a major hub for practical learning, industry collaboration and applied research, in line with Ghana’s commitment to sustainable development and the transition to a green economy. The initiative will also position UEAS as a leading centre for innovation in science, technology and sustainability.
Under the partnership, the institute will strengthen research, training and innovation in key areas such as green technology, climate-smart agriculture and sustainable engineering. It will further provide students with hands-on skills and competencies required to meet the demands of Ghana’s emerging green economy.
The Ministry of Education noted that the project aligns with government efforts to promote skills-based tertiary education, enhance industry–academia collaboration and prepare graduates for future-oriented careers.
The collaboration with QG Construction UK Limited reflects the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging strategic international partnerships to expand infrastructure development, improve research capacity and drive innovation within Ghana’s higher education sector.
