The Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH) was for many years a museum of abandoned projects with several uncompleted projects littering the campus.
Snakes and rodents had taken over as the institution’s main gate was overgrown with grass. It was an unpleasant sight to behold.
In 2017, when Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, assumed office, OAUSTECH started to receive considerable attention it deserved.
Within 100 days in office, Governor Akeredolu completed the asphalt laying of the institution’s road from the Main Gate to the heart of the Campus. He also delivered and commissioned the University’s Library; Auditorium; Administrative Building; Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge; Principal Officer’s Quarters; and some Privately Donated Buildings.
Besides, the Akeredolu administration was able to facilitate the donation of science equipment worth millions of Naira from Seeding Lab., USA, in order to encourage meaningful learning and research in the institution.
Furthermore, under his administration, all programmes due for National Universities Commission accreditation were successfully accredited, even as the university was enlisted as a beneficiary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the first time since its establishment.
Today, OAUSTECH is a working institution with many accredited courses. Governor Akeredolu renamed the University after late former Governor Olusegun Agagu (Formerly Ondo State University of Science and Technology)
In recognition of his impactful leadership and enduring legacy, the Governing Council and Management of OAUSTECH named the University Senate Building after the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
