The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has commended Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology Igboora for granting temporary examination clearance to students approved under the student loan scheme.
According to an internal memorandum issued by the institution, students who have secured approval under the NELFUND programme but are yet to complete their tuition payment are required to print their verified NELFUND details and present them to the Academic Affairs Division for authentication.
The authenticated document will then serve as clearance for entry into the examination hall for the first semester 2025/2026 examinations.
Reacting to the development, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, described the directive as a practical institutional response that aligns with the objectives of the student loan scheme.
“We recognise and appreciate institutional measures that ensure students who have already secured approval under the NELFUND programme are not academically disrupted while final administrative processes are concluded,” Sawyerr said.
“This approach reflects a thoughtful alignment with the objectives of the scheme.”
He noted that as the implementation of the student loan programme continues to expand across the country, collaboration between tertiary institutions and NELFUND remains essential to ensure that eligible students can continue their academic programmes without interruption.
NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening engagement with universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education nationwide to ensure smooth coordination, transparency, and timely access to financial support for students.
