If becoming a lawyer is part of your dream, one step matters more than many students realise — choosing the right university.
The Council of Legal Education has released a list of 114 universities approved to run law programmes in Nigeria.
Why does this matter?
Because students who study law in universities without approval will not be eligible for admission into the Nigerian Law School, the final stage before becoming a practising lawyer.
In a circular signed by the council’s Secretary and Director of Administration, Aderonke Osho, the council warned universities against admitting students into unapproved law programmes.
According to the council, any institution running a law programme without approval is violating the regulations guiding legal education in Nigeria and may face sanctions.
For students planning to study law, this means one thing: always confirm that your chosen university is accredited before accepting admission.
