The University of Maiduguri has received a significant financial boost following the disbursement of ₦828,059,000 from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The funds, credited on February 17, 2026, are targeted at covering tuition and statutory charges for a total of 6,911 students of the institution. This intervention is expected to ease the financial burden on beneficiaries and enable them to continue their education without disruption.
NELFUND, an initiative designed to expand access to higher education through structured financial support, has continued to play a critical role in supporting students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The latest disbursement to the University of Maiduguri underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen educational access and affordability.
With this development, thousands of students at the institution can proceed with their academic pursuits under improved financial conditions, aligning with broader national objectives of promoting inclusive education and human capital development.
