The management of Osun State University has officially presented the instrument of appointment to the Group Managing Director of BOVAS & Company Ltd, Victoria Samson, as the new Chancellor of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Odunayo Adeboye, presented the appointment letter on behalf of the Osun State Government and the university’s Governing Council during a visit to Ibadan, Oyo State.
Adeboye said the appointment reflected Samson’s achievements in business leadership, philanthropy and national development, adding that the university was optimistic her experience would strengthen the institution’s academic and global relevance.
Reading the appointment letter signed by Ademola Adeleke, the vice-chancellor disclosed that the appointment took effect from May 10, 2026, for an initial term of five years.
According to the letter, Samson’s appointment was in recognition of her accomplishments in business leadership, service to humanity and contributions to national development.
The letter further stated that, as Chancellor, she would serve as the ceremonial head of the university and provide moral, strategic and inspirational support toward achieving the institution’s vision.
Adeboye also revealed that the university would announce the date for Samson’s formal investiture in due course.
The vice-chancellor commended Adeleke for prioritising merit and competence in appointments affecting the institution, noting that the governor had consistently encouraged the university management to focus on individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to the growth of the university without political interference.
Responding, Samson expressed appreciation to the state government, governing council and university management for the confidence reposed in her.
She described the appointment as an honour and pledged to support the continued growth and development of the institution.
