Call for Applications: Civic Re-engagement & Inclusive Social Empowerment (CIVICRISE) Election Champions Training
CIVICRISE Election Champions Training, an initiative under the Civic Re-engagement & Inclusive Social Empowerment (CIVICRISE) Project Funded by the Heinrich Boll Foundation.
This training is designed to equip and empower young leaders across Jigawa and Kaduna States with practical knowledge and skills in civic engagement, democratic participation, voter education, and community mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Elections.Primary & Secondary Schooling (K-12)
50 outstanding young leaders — including women and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) — will be selected from across the Local Government Areas of Jigawa and Kaduna States to serve as CIVICRISE Election Champions within their communities.
Program Highlights:
Electoral Education & Democratic Participation:
Learn about voting rights, electoral processes, the Electoral Act, voter education, and democratic responsibilities.
Civic Advocacy & Community Mobilisation:
Participants will gain practical skills in grassroots mobilisation, community engagement, and issue-based advocacy to strengthen democratic participation.
Countering Misinformation:
Develop strategies to identify, challenge, and counter electoral misinformation and political disinformation within communities and online spaces.
Inclusive Leadership & Social Cohesion:
Build leadership skills that promote inclusion, gender equality, peacebuilding, and the participation of women, youth, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in governance processes.
Civic Engagement Through Media & Storytelling:
Learn how to use social media, civic storytelling, radio engagement, and creative community outreach to drive voter awareness and participation.
Network Building:
Become part of a growing network of CIVICRISE Election Champions working collectively to promote civic responsibility, democratic accountability, and active citizenship across Northern Nigeria.
Who Should Apply:
Passionate youth leaders residing in Jigawa and Kaduna States Respectively.
Age between 18 to 35
Individuals interested in governance, transparency, and community development.
Young women and Persons with Disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
